When it comes to safety, we never rest. We are continuously improving our outstanding record and our goal is to consistently outperform our peers as well as the industry standard. Our proactive safety initiatives form the foundation for our success.
Over the past several years, URS has won more than 140 safety awards, including gold and silver awards from the United Kingdom’s Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents.
In the United States, we have been recognized by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) for our industry-leading safety standards. Several of our projects have garnered OSHA’s Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) Star status as a result of exemplary safety performance.
We have an unprecedented safety alliance with OSHA, and became the first to garner corporate Voluntary Protection Program Star Status in the engineering and construction industry. URS has also been recognized as one of “America’s Safest Companies” by Occupational Hazards Magazine, the leading publication of safety, health and loss prevention.
Clients, like Dow Chemical, BP and ExxonMobil, share URS’ commitment to the highest safety standards, and we have received numerous safety recognition awards as a result. ExxonMobil recently honored our work at the Torrance, California refinery with the Gold Safety Award for outstanding Health and Safety performance, which is presented annually for those contractor groups that meet the company’s stringent Health and Safety performance criteria.
In addition to receiving OSHA’s VPP star status at several chemical demilitarization sites, URS maintains an excellent safety record at the Fort Rucker Rotary Wing Flight Training Program, where we provide flight and safety training to approximately 1,300 Army and Air Force initial entry students a year.
