The Engineering and Technology Services Group is comprised of two Strategic Business Units focused on defense services activities involving aviation and ground systems; command, control, and electronics; global threat reduction; and homeland security.

Defense Systems & Services provides innovative systems engineering and program management support for the development of major new aviation and ground systems. We support the DoD and other federal agencies through our integrated systems engineering, operations and maintenance, and repair/upgrade capabilities. This support involves studies and analysis, technology insertion, systems modification, installation of new systems and equipment, the design and manufacture of critical parts, and integrated logistics support. We perform studies and analysis, systems modification and logistics support for government aircraft, tracked and wheeled vehicles, shelters and ground support equipment. EG&G plays a significant role in the development of new systems for the 21st century. We develop and integrate communications and mine detection systems, and provide program management, and engineering and logistics support for the Expeditionary Fighting Vehicle program. We also operate an aircraft modernization hangar, and serve as a primary contractor for the C-130 modernization program.

We also provide electronics omnibus support, engineering and technical support at many of the nation's defense systems research laboratories. Our services include quality assurance, engineering analysis and studies, design, production and field engineering, test and evaluation, integrated logistics support and configuration, and program and technical data management. We provide acquisition management, engineering and logistics support for the Navy's Virginia Class Fast Attack Nuclear Submarine Systems, the Marine Corps' Expeditionary Fighting Vehicle as well as support to the international Rolling Airframe Missile project, and the Navy Standard missile program. We also provide engineering and technical services in support of combat systems for aviation/fleet modernization efforts.

Homeland Security provides engineering, scientific, management and technical support services to prevent, prepare for, respond to, and recover from potential terrorist threats to people, property and infrastructure. We provide advisory services and consulting support for a special series of state and local training and preparedness exercises. We provide specialized training to thousands of individuals across the nation in emergency operations and response. We provide technical research, analysis and engineering support including the development of safety and security programs and assistance to other agencies with growing homeland defense missions. EG&G provides 24-hour response, 365 days a year, to thousands of law enforcement officers throughout the U.S. We are involved in policy analysis support and technical services in chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosives weapon defense and deterrence, and provide a wide range of facilities and operational services in support of research programs.
