URS Corporation

URS provides inspection, maintenance, modification and repair services to weapons systems at United States federal government sites worldwide. These services are performed for all branches of the Department of Defense, as well as the U.S. Coast Guard. We work with fixed and rotary wing aircraft, unmanned aircraft systems, wheeled and tracked vehicles, ground shelters and military support equipment.

Much of our work involves installing modifications in military aircraft to better equip and protect them from the latest threats, such as attacks by enemy missiles fired from the air or the ground. We also implemented new radar systems and other structural modifications to C-30 cargo aircraft—the pride of the U.S. Air Force Airlift and Search and Rescue fleet—to improve the collection of intelligence information and the recovery of lost aircraft on the battlefield.

Hundreds of URS personnel help the U.S. Army track and manage the inspection, repair and overhaul of the helicopter fleet deployed in areas of combat. URS also operates a vehicle re-build facility for the Army’s Tank and Automotive Command for its fleet of high mobility, multipurpose wheeled vehicles, known as Humvees. At this site, teams of URS mechanics service badly damaged and worn Humvees at the rate of 150 a month, with more than 3,000 parts being requisitioned each week.
