Operating the National Radar Cross Section Test Facility (NRTF) at Holloman AFB in New Mexico, URS has lowered costs—particularly for infrastructure improvements—and enhanced efficiency while making facilities and equipment available around-the-clock for optimum training flexibility. This facility is essential to test “low observable” or stealth technology of modern weapon systems.
Joint Test, Tactics, and Training (JT3), a joint venture with Raytheon, manages four large, open-air training ranges in the Western U.S. JT3 provides program management, operations and maintenance, and engineering services customized for each location. Training operations are governed by CMMI- and ISO 9001:2000-compliant quality processes. These proven quality standards, along with 30 performance metrics, ensure consistent outputs, such as training range data, regardless of differences across the facilities. JT3 also supports essential test and training for new weapons systems, including the F-22 Raptor and F-35 Lightning.
As the operating contractor for the Defense Logistics Agency’s (DLA) Defense Distribution Depots at Hill AFB, Utah, and Jacksonville, Florida, we embrace time and money-saving practices, such as Lean Six Sigma. URS reduced necessary warehouse floor space by 40%, saving operating costs while still managing over 250,000 line items with no defects in stock.
Our partnerships with the military result in well-functioning and cost-effective facilities—creating the best possible training capability and services to ensure personnel readiness.
