Through our work on behalf of FEMA, URS has unparalleled experience in disaster-response planning. After disasters, when restoring normalcy is a priority, we provide a range of architectural, engineering, environmental and inspection services. Within hours of a disaster occurring, URS can provide a sizable staff to manage and operate emergency operations centers. We also provide the full range of emergency preparedness, response, recovery and mitigation services to the United States Postal Service (USPS). We were key in developing the USPS Biological Detection System program, which protects against the introduction of a biological agent into the mail stream and is a national program of critical importance to homeland security.
We provide risk assessment and FEMA-regulated hazard-mitigation planning services for cities and municipalities, as well as for large, public U.S. institutions such as the Smithsonian Institution. URS offers comprehensive support services to help protect the public and secure critical infrastructure, military installations and public buildings against threats. Our capabilities include integrating technology and sophisticated risk-analysis techniques with construction, engineering and management services.
