URS also provides engineering and architectural design and construction services for military and government facilities. The renovation of the National Archives Building in Washington, D.C., and the prototype design for all future U.S. embassies are among our signature government facilities projects.
In addition, we also designed and constructed a new, $42 million, 60,000-square-foot corrosion control hangar and a 20,000-square-foot maintenance facility for C-17 aircraft at Hickam Air Force Base in Hawaii. We also provided design and construction services for corrosion-control facilities for C-130 aircraft at Hill Air Force Base in Utah and engineering services for beddown facilities for the Predator and the Global Hawk unmanned aerial systems at the Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada and the Beale Air Force Base in California, respectively. As part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s effort to intensify security along the nation’s borders, we provided construction management services for the upgrade of the San Ysidro international border between San Diego and Tijuana, Mexico.
URS delivers a full range of services in support of the DoD’s Base Realignment
and Closure Program (BRAC). A recent addition to URS’ large portfolio of BRAC projects is a recent Air Force contract to design and construct two $96 million, educational facilities at Fort Sam Houston’s Medical Education and Training Campus in Texas, which will be used to train radiology, nuclear medicine, dental, pharmacological and biomedical-equipment technicians.
