URS Project Recognized for Environmental Achievements

SAN FRANCISCO, CA —  January 9, 2012 —  URS Corporation announced that its Pine Bluff Chemical Agent Disposal Facility received the Arkansas Environmental Federation’s (AEF) Award of Merit in recognition of its accomplishments.

The award was given at the AEF’s recent annual convention. The Award of Merit recognizes “outstanding service on behalf of the people of the State of Arkansas.”

Introducing the award, AEF Executive Director Randy Thurman noted some of the prior recipients of the AEF Award of Merit, including longtime public servants in Arkansas’ environmental agencies, legislators who had championed important environmental enactments, and philanthropic organizations promoting sound environmental policy. “All of those were certainly worthy recipients for an award that recognizes outstanding services to the citizens of Arkansas,” Thurman stated. “While their work made Arkansas a better place to live, none of their efforts actually left the entire planet a safer place to live. The Pine Bluff Chemical Agent Disposal Facility has accomplished just that in its dozen years of work with the U.S. Army and URS.”

Commenting on the contract, Randall A. Wotring, President of Federal Services for URS, said: “Receiving this award is a great honor for our highly successful project team and URS as a whole.
