URS is providing management and technical support to account for the significant workforce escalation resulting from the congressionally mandated Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) Act of 2005. We deliver program management, design services, asset management and technical implementation services in support of the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) BRAC IT infrastructure upgrade projects.
These projects encompass Local Area Network (LAN) extension installations at 26 Defense Distribution Centers (DDCs) worldwide and entail migrating more than 4,000 new users to DLA’s Enterprise Telecommunications Network (ETN).
Beyond supporting the greatly expanded number of users, these BRAC infrastructure projects involve upgrading the ETN to meet increasingly stringent Defense Information System Network (DISN) security and availability requirements. Overall, we are assisting the DLA with ensuring that the ETN has sufficient bandwidth, meets DOD Information Assurance (IA) mandates, and is fully prepared to migrate to Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) when required. Additionally, our team is managing the installation of diverse physical telecommunications pathways at many of the DDCs to meet DOD’s Continuity of Operations (COOP) directives.
