The Security Information Management System (SIMS) is a high priority initiative and is the primary software application that will automate the personnel security clearance process from end-to-end for the DoS Bureau of Diplomatic Security (DS), Security Infrastructure, Office of Personnel Security and Suitability.
URS is developing a comprehensive and innovative Web-based system which will support functions and activities associated with the personnel security clearance process, replacing the current, more manual-oriented clearance processing and background investigation legacy systems. SIMS supports the entire spectrum of clearance processing from initial on-boarding through adjudication. SIMS also provides vital support to more than 800 field investigators located both within the United States and around the world, operating in approximately 270 posts abroad.
