The NISO-P Directorate of Security needed network security services, including information systems engineering and integration for the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Army and Air Force components of the Pentagon information technology enterprise. The Pentagon information enterprise that supports more than 22,000 users operates and maintains a secure environment, preventing or detecting intrusion prior to enterprise impact—minimizing downtime.
The network security tasks involve detecting threats and denying access to organizations or individuals that wish to steal, intercept or modify both classified and sensitive but unclassified information that is contained within the Pentagon information technology enterprise. We also provide periodic assessment of the structure and configurations of the Pentagon networks and sub-networks to identify vulnerabilities. The scope of this effort extends around the world.
