URS is providing program and construction management services to the Broward County Aviation Department for its airport expansion program. Since the program began in 1995, URS has completed projects valued at more than $450 million. These include a new 18-gate domestic terminal, a 4,500-space parking structure, the terminal entrance roadway system and numerous remote grade level parking lots and airline/airport support facilities.
URS also is working on $475 million in ongoing projects in design or construction, including a consolidated rental car center (RCC), a 4,500-space structured parking garage that sits atop the RCC, a pedestrian bridge project that will provide access to each terminal from the central parking structures and the RCC, terminal exit roadway system, an expansion of the Federal Inspection Service facilities and numerous utility and airfield taxiway projects.
The completion of Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood International Airport’s ambitious, 20-year expansion program also involves future projects valued at $3.4 billion. These projects include a new 20-gate international arrival terminal, an automated people mover and intermodal center and the redevelopment and expansion of the south parallel runway.
