As at all airports today, security at the Denver International Airport (DIA) is a full time job, one made more efficient as a result of URS’ expertise in the design of electronics and telecommunications systems. Serving as Design Manager, URS was responsible for providing technical review, detailed design and construction management for a complete suite of 18 electronics and telecommunications sub-systems that form the backbone of DIA’s complex communications network.
URS managed design for the entire telecommunications infrastructure, which supports the whole DIA campus and provides connectivity to the City and County of Denver, airlines and other tenants. We also directed the design and implementation of a variety of other electronics, including access control systems, security intercoms, ID badging systems and a closed circuit television system with live “feeds” from more than 580 cameras located throughout DIA. Our systems specialists continue to work at the airport to expand these systems and support technology improvements.
