URS holds multiple contracts with Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to provide technical assistance to support FEMA’s disaster response, recovery and mitigation mission. To date, we have completed more than 575 project assignments in 35 states during major hurricanes, floods and the World Trade Center and Space Shuttle Columbia disasters.
After years of experience helping communities recover from natural disasters, URS now is in the forefront of firms helping to prepare for and respond to man-made disasters such as terrorist attacks. This work involves identifying the vulnerabilities of buildings and infrastructure and developing strategies to eliminate or reduce them.
