Since the founding of the U.S. Corps of Engineers’ Hazardous, Toxic and Radioactive Waste (HTRW) Program, URS has supported the Baltimore District’s HTRW Branch. The program's mission is to clean up sites contaminated with hazardous and radioactive waste, or ordnance, comply with federal, state and local environmental laws and regulations, minimize the use of hazardous materials, and conserve natural and cultural resources.
Under a recent contract with the Baltimore District, URS supported projects involving munitions and explosives, and successfully executed the investigation, planning and design of interim corrective actions for more than 30 assignments simultaneously throughout the North Atlantic Division and Europe.
