- Owner’s Representative
URS is providing owner’s representative services to the City of Orlando for the new Amway Center. Scheduled to open in fall 2010, the new $380-million venue will be home to the NBA’s Orlando Magic, and will host major national events, concerts and family shows. The Center will be 875,000 SF with over 20,000 seats, and will contain restaurants, concessions, locker rooms and retail space.
The Amway Center is being designed and constructed to meet the certification criteria for an environmentally “green” building development standard. To celebrate Central Florida’s moderate climate, the building will be filled with a variety of indoor-outdoor spaces.
URS is also involved in design reviews for the $32-million Amway Events Center Parking Garage. The structure will rise eight stories, approximately 1,850 spaces, and will have a pedestrian bridge connection to the Events Center. It is designed with an oversized first floor height to accommodate trucks and buses. The structure will be either “precast” or “post-tensioned” concrete, with exterior precast panels.
URS also is providing owner’s representative services to the City for the new Dr. P. Phillips Orlando Performing Arts Center and the renovation of the Florida Citrus Bowl.
