URS provides acceptance, management and disposition of seized real property acquired through actions against criminal activities across the United States and its territories. For more than a decade, URS has provided services—from pre-seizure analysis of assets through their final disposition and accounting—using a well-developed network of 4,000 vendors and subcontractors.
Managing and selling seized real estate requires pre-seizure analysis of the property’s value, which includes an appraisal, title searches, identification, and resolution of liens and other business evaluations. Post-seizure, URS ensures proper custody, receipt and review of appraised values and a determination of fair market value. Properties are maintained, repaired and renovated as necessary to secure the best final disposition of the real property. The risks involved in each property are evaluated and disclosed to allow the Treasury to understand what potential costs may occur during the disposition of seized real property.
All revenues, costs and related accounting data relevant to transactions are properly documented in U.S. Treasury-designated and approved systems of record. Internal and external audits ensure the integrity of this program.
